Add Device to Ctrl via USB using VS Code CtrlR plugin

In this section, we will explain to you how to add a device to Ctrl via USB and the CtrlR plugin.

You can follow the tutorial here to get stated with CtrlR if you have not already set it up.

Step 1: Create a device

  1. You can add your device manually or via ZTP. In this guide, we will add a new device manually.
  2. Go to Devices and click on Add Device.
  1. Enter Device’s MAC address. You can find it on your device. Ctrl will look up the MAC address to ensure it is on the list of devices you have purchased with your organization. If it is, it will add this device to Ctrl.
  1. Select your network options. You can select from the available networks you have added in Ctrl. Drag the networks to establish the connection priority.
  1. When you are finished setting up your device, click on the Provisioning tab. Click on the “Generate Activation Key” button. You should see the CtrlR plugin command
  2. Click on the text to copy it to your clipboard. Paste the information into REPL.
  3. Your device is now provisioned.
